Have you tried outdoor shooting yet? Living in a populated area like Baltimore, it’s tricky to find sufficient space for safe outdoor shooting. Conversely, just about every town has at least one indoor range. While indoor ranges make the perfect place to shoot during a rainy day, there are plenty of reasons to give outdoor shooting a chance. This spring, we’re making it easy! Every single live fire course this spring and summer will be hosted at our brand-new shooting range right in Glen Arm, MD. Here’s why you should select a course that matches your experience level and join in on the outdoor fun!
Increased Freedom of Movement
Once you’ve learned the fundamentals of safely operating a firearm, you’ll want to build up your shooting skill set by adding things like movement into the mix. After all, we can’t assume that a gunfight will be entirely stationary like you would be at your lane in the indoor shooting range. The outdoor range gives us the flexibility to try out multiple firing stations, ranges of distance, and terrain-based exercises.
180 Degrees of Firing
The flexibility of our outdoor range also allows us to increase the width of shooting we can safely allow. Engage multiple targets and shoot from several directions to simulate lifelike shooting encounters.
Training in the Elements
Training in the elements certainly is not for everyone, but we’ve personally never regretted braving the elements for training sessions. For our entry level courses this spring, we plan to reschedule if the spring showers would simply detract from the quality of the experience for our trainees. However, for our more advanced courses, training in the elements offers great experience for those seeking a new, unique challenge.
Safety is Our Top Priority Regardless of Where We’re Shooting
The versatility of outdoor shooting makes it a compelling location for training purposes, but we want to stress that we enforce all standard safety rules and protocols regardless of our location. Even with the increased flexibility, there are a few rules we will always mandate:
- Do not point the gun at anything you do not intend to shoot
- Do not place your finger on the trigger until it is time to fire
- Be aware of what is in front of and behind a target
- Treat all firearms as if they are loaded
